Identity of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences
The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences was established in the academic year 2003-2004, following the authorization of the programs in Romanian Language and Literature - English Language and Literature, and Public Administration. (Initially, the faculty also included programs in Social Work - long form and college level - and Special Psychopedagogy, which were later transferred to the Faculty of Educational Sciences, Psychology, and Social Assistance). Establishment Act: H.G. 1028/2003;
Currently, the faculty offers study programs for all Bologna cycles, namely bachelor's, master's, and doctoral degrees.
At the bachelor's level, we offer the following study programs: Romanian Language and Literature - English Language and Literature, Public Administration, Journalism, Pentecostal Theological Education, and Music.
Graduates of the bachelor's programs, as well as all interested parties, can continue their studies in one of the master's programs offered by the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences: Language and Literature. Current Trends, Applied Linguistics: Modern Perspectives in Teaching English (in English), Public Administration in the European Context, Media Image and Public Communication, Managerial Communication and Human Resources, Public Theology, Faith and Life. Studies in Public Theology (in English).
The faculty offers the possibility to pursue doctoral studies in two fields: Philology and Evangelical Theology.
It is important to know that the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences offers a Preparatory Year Program in Romanian for foreign citizens. This program is available to citizens from both EU countries and non-EU states who wish to study in Romanian at universities in Romania.
It should be noted that we offer both budgeted and fee-based places for all specializations and for all study programs and cycles.
Our students may benefit from social and merit scholarships, awarded to full-time students with excellent academic results. Our students can also access the Erasmus+ scholarship program, which allows them to study for a semester or a year at a partner university in the EU or non-EU area. Upon their return, the subjects studied during the mobility are equated, and they continue their studies alongside their peers.
We also offer students the possibility to stay in the dormitory, a modern facility with spacious areas and access to a cafeteria.
Each year, the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences organizes a student symposium and a doctoral student symposium. During this event, students have the opportunity to exchange best practices in their fields of study, and the results are disseminated through the conference volume.
Our students can join the UAV Student League, one of the largest and most active student leagues in the country. Alongside their peers, they can participate in a range of exciting extracurricular activities, including the now-famous Freshmen Balls and Ghioroc Summer Fest.
The faculty has two extensive libraries and reading rooms where students can access the required reading materials for each course. Additionally, they can access international databases on the faculty's computers, where they can find up-to-date bibliographies for any field of study.
We have our own book collection, with books in Romanian, English, French, and German, over 4500 volumes. The faculty library, located in room 90, provides open-shelf access, especially for books related to the study of Romanian language and literature, while rooms 91 and 92 contain books for loan, related to the study of modern languages and literatures, English, French, and German.
The Modern Languages Center within the faculty offers testing upon request in Romanian, English, German, and French and issues language certificates required for study mobilities, employment, enrollment in studies in a foreign language, or doctoral studies.
The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences has a journal indexed in major databases where researchers can publish their studies without a fee.
